GETTYSBURG YOUTH LEAGUE RULES – Revised 3/5/26.
We will be using PIAA rules and regulations as well as certified PA/MD officials.
1. 2 (18 minute) halves with running clock and a 3 minute halftime break.
2. Clock will stop last 2 minutes of the second half unless the margin is 15 points or more.
3. 3 (30 second) timeouts per team per game
4. 5 fouls per player – at 7 team fouls will shoot 2 foul shots.
5. Clock will run through foul shots except for last 2 minutes of the second half.
6. Overtime – 3 minutes – running clock till last minute. (2 OT max per game/regular season – if still a tie after 2 OT, game ends a tie. Play till a winner in playoffs/championship games.)
7. 1 (30 second) timeout per OT. Leftover timeouts do not carry over from the regulation game.
8. Each team must have someone to keep books (and score if necessary) at scorer’s table.
9. All other rules with be subject to PIAA rules and PIAA referee discretion.
10. 3rd and 4th grade only - no full court pressing past half court except during last minute of 2nd half or last minute of over time - only man to man defense, no zone defenses permitted – Players will shoot foul shots 3 feet inside the foul line and momentum may carry them forward.
11. 3rd and 4th grade only – Defense must remain inside of the three point line until the ball crosses half court unless both coaches agree differently but must make officials aware of the change for that game.
12. 3rd and 4th grade only – If after a steal/rebound the player with the ball immediately dribbles to begin a fast break, the defense can steal the ball in the backcourt without it being considered Illegal pressing.
13. Ball Sizes (BOYS) – 3rd/4th 28.5, 5th/6th – 28.5 unless both teams approve 29.5 (GIRLS) All ages - 28.5
14. Teams will be responsible to provide a game ball, a scorebook keeper, and a clock operator.
15. Players can play on more than one team (must pay per team) but should not play in same age bracket.
16. Mercy rule – Any team up by 15 points or more CAN NOT press (must completely drop back).
17. Winning team is responsible to report score by email on same night to RickAKellerJr@gmail.com or via text 717-515-4671.
18. Weather/Emergency Cancellations – Any game stopped in first half will be rescheduled and completed. Score and time will be recorded and picked up where the game left off. Any game stopped during second half, score will stand. In case of games that are very close and may have implications for playoff standings, league discretion will prevail.
19. Please give 48 hour notice if your team will not make a scheduled game. Game will become a forfeit. Any schedule changes for a pre-scheduled game, must be approved by both coaches and the league.
20. Players must wear their team tshirt (or at least their team color) or their own team jersey
21. Please ensure you are playing in the proper grade division.
a. Coaches need to have verification of grade level on hand if a player’s grade eligibility is challenged. The player will be unable to play until information is produced.
22. Coaches (max of 2), players and scorekeeper are allowed on the court. All others must remain in the upstairs viewing area.
23. If a 3rd/4th grade team plays a 5th/6th grade team, the 3rd/4th grade rules apply unless both coaches agree to something different.
